Precipitation is mainly concentrated in autumn and winter, when snowfalls are frequent. Temperatures vary with altitude, with 2200 m asl as the limit of perpetual snow. At 800 m a.s.l. the average temperature is 15 °C in summer and 2 °C in winter, with extremes of 33 °C and -15 °C.
