  • Welcome to Torres del Paine

After breakfast at the hotel, you must head to the bus terminal to take the 7:00 am bus (we recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before departure) towards Torres del Paine National Park. You will travel through beautiful landscapes until reaching the main entrance, Laguna Amarga, where you must register with CONAF (park rangers).

Here, you will transfer to “Transporte Las Torres,” which will take you to the Welcome Center. You will then register at the Cerro Paine Reserve and, after about a 5-minute walk, arrive at Torre Central, where you must check in, either at the refuge or campsite, before starting your trek.

Today’s hike begins through the Ascencio Valley, enjoying vast forests. During the final ascent, you will cross an immense field of giant boulders until reaching one of the most iconic viewpoints in the world, the famous Base Torres lookout.

At an altitude of 900 m.a.s.l., marvel at the three granite towers (north, central, and south) and the dazzling turquoise glacial lake at their feet. Take beautiful photos and enjoy your box lunch before returning along the same trail to the Torre Central refuge. After a long day and visiting the Towers, delight in dinner at the refuge.

Torres del Paine - Grey Glacier

  • Catamaran – Hike to Grey

After having breakfast at Torre Central Refuge and requesting your box lunch, you must take the Las Torres transfer at 8:15 am, which will take you back to Laguna Amarga. From here, the hike to Grey begins. The trail starts through a narrow and winding valley that leads to Los Patos Lagoon. As you continue, you will start to see parts of the immense Southern Ice Field, as well as the icebergs floating on Lake Grey. After passing the sometimes very windy viewpoint, the trail descends through a mountainous forest until reaching Grey Refuge. From here, if you continue walking for about 10 minutes, you will arrive at the Grey Glacier viewpoint, where you will come face to face with one of the arms of the Southern Ice Field. • Farewell Torres del Paine

Today’s hike will be a round trip, starting and ending at Paine Grande—a journey into the heart of the park, walking along the blue waters of Lake Skottsberg. After approximately 2.5 hours, you will reach the Italiano campsite (ranger station), where you will begin your trek into the French Valley.

Ascend over large rocks and continue through the forest until reaching the French Viewpoint. Here, you will be rewarded with incredible views of the Cuernos, turquoise glacial lagoons, and stunning hanging glaciers cascading down the eastern face of Paine Grande (3,050 masl). If you’re lucky, you may hear the thunderous sound of ice and water crashing down, and it is also quite common to witness an avalanche.

Enjoy your box lunch and a well-deserved rest. Then descend along the same trail back to the Italiano campsite and return to Paine Grande Refuge. At 6:35 pm you must board the catamaran that will take you back to Pudeto, where you will connect with the regular bus to Puerto Natales. Estimated arrival in Natales is around 9:30 pm.
