Day 9

Explore the City - Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires - City tour

  • Buenos Aires City Tour with Guided visit to Palacio Barolo

Today you will be picked up at your hotel to explore Buenos Aires’s major tourist attractions on this tour that hits all of the highlights of this cultural metropolis. Guided by a knowledgeable guide, learn about Porteño’s lifestyle, vibrant culture, and music.

We will visit important historical monuments on your way to Plaza de Mayo and take a moment to admire significant buildings such as the Casa Rosada or the Congress.
We will experience the European flair that has given the city its fame strolling around eclectic neighborhoods; from antique San Telmo and colorful working-class La Boca to fancy and chic Recoleta with its famous Cemetery, representing the elegant and historical Buenos Aires and containing the graves of many Argentina’s emblematic figures, such as Eva Peron. This City Tour includes a guided visit to Barolo Palace, inspired by Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy (Subject to theater’s schedule & availability).

During the tour of the building we will visit the sectors that are most similar to the Italian poem, which is segmented into Hell, Purgatory and Paradise.
The guided tour begins in the Barolo Passage, in this part of the building, which corresponds to “Hell”, the guide explains the symbolism of the different decorative ornaments and we begin to delve into the fascinating and enigmatic history of this Latin skyscraper.
The tour continues by going up by elevator to one of the two balconies of the so-called “Purgatory” where it is revealed that the dome that was observed from the hall of the building does not correspond to the axis of the building and, to prove it, then the 13th floor is accessed by elevator. This is how the complexity of Architect Palanti’s work then begins to be appreciated in all its splendor, perceiving the majesty and symbolism that he gave to each of the spaces.
Then, we go up one floor (on foot) to reach the Tower where, after a brief explanation about what will be experienced next, you climb six floors of stairs. This section of the Palace is the so-called Paradise. During the ascent, the corridors gradually narrow until they end at the Barolo viewing balconies where the panoramic views are, according to our visitors, the best of the city of Buenos Aires.
We still need to reach the “empyreum” of Paradise, the place where Dante imagined that the blessed souls gathered, and where the Architect Palanti designed a Lighthouse.
This luminaire is immersed in a glass dome almost one hundred meters high and climbing up there is the most unforgettable memory that Barolo offers.

At the end of the tour, you will have a transfer back to your hotel.

  • Half Day Dinner & Tango Show with Lesson included

In the evening you will arrive on your own to a mythical place where you will discover one of our most ancient traditions.

A professional tango teacher will show you the first steps of this beautiful and sensual dance and you will experience the passion of the Argentine tango.

While having dinner, you will enjoy a professional display of tango and music with a group of local artists onstage immersed in an elegant and alluring place. The manners, ambience, clothes and dance steps which tango lovers used to practice 100 years ago will come to life again and you will travel in time for a night.

At the end of the evening, around midnight, you will be taken back to your hotel.
