A honeymoon in South America is not one trip, it is a dozen possible ones. You can spend your first days as a married couple watching glaciers calve in Patagonia, sipping Malbec at a vineyard in the Andes, or waking up to the sound of the rainforest. We build each South American honeymoon around the two of you: the pace, the rooms, the meals and the moments you actually want to remember.
Whether you picture hiking to a viewpoint no one else has reached on our Patagonia tours, tasting your way through Mendoza wine tours, or ending the trip on a beach in Rio de Janeiro, our local travel specialists put the whole itinerary together for you: flights inside the country, private transfers, hand-picked hotels and guides who know when to step back and leave you alone.

It depends on where you go. Patagonia and the Andes are at their best from October to April, when the days are long and the trails are open. The Atacama Desert and northern Argentina work all year round, and the Brazilian coast is warmest between December and March. If you are getting married in the northern hemisphere summer, we usually build the trip around wine country, the north and the tropics.
It varies with the season, the destinations and the level of accommodation you choose. We work with four accommodation tiers, from comfortable inns and B&Bs to luxury lodges, so the same itinerary can be adapted up or down. Tell us your budget and we will show you what it buys before you commit to anything.
It is one of the best. You can hike in Patagonia in the morning and be in a hot tub with a mountain view by the evening. Our honeymoon itineraries mix active days with slow ones, so neither of you spends the whole trip walking or the whole trip sitting still.
Most couples travel between 10 and 15 days. Ten days is enough for two destinations at a relaxed pace, for example Buenos Aires and Patagonia. Two weeks lets you add a third stop such as Mendoza, the Atacama Desert or Rio de Janeiro without spending your honeymoon in airports.
Yes, and it is usually the part couples remember most. A private picnic in front of a glacier, a table for two at a vineyard, a room upgrade on the first night, a photographer for a morning. Tell us during the planning stage and we take care of it with the hotels and guides on the ground.
For a honeymoon, yes. The best rooms in Patagonia, Torres del Paine and the wine regions are booked six to nine months ahead, especially between November and March. We recommend starting to plan as soon as you have your wedding date.
Why Choose South America for Your Honeymoon?
South America gives you contrast, and contrast is what makes a honeymoon feel long. In a single trip you can go from a city where dinner starts at ten at night to a valley where the only sound is the wind, from vineyards at the foot of the Andes to a glacier that moves while you watch it.
It is also a region where privacy is easy to find. Outside a handful of famous spots, you will not be sharing the view with a crowd. That is why so many of the couples we work with end up combining one iconic destination, such as Torres del Paine or Iguazu Falls, with somewhere quieter where they can slow down for a few days.
And because we are based here, in Argentina and Chile, the logistics are ours to solve, not yours. Domestic flights, border crossings between countries, the drive from the airport to the lodge: all of it is booked, confirmed and monitored while you are travelling, with a real person on call 24/7 if anything shifts.
Whether you want a romantic trip for couples full of long walks and open landscapes, a luxury honeymoon with the best rooms in the region, or a mix of both, every itinerary we build is private and tailor-made. Nothing on this page is a fixed departure: it is a starting point.
Best Destinations to Combine on a South American Honeymoon
Most honeymoons work best with two or three stops. Here are the combinations couples ask us for most often, and what each one adds to the trip.
Patagonia, Argentina & Chile
The classic honeymoon opener. Glaciers, granite towers and empty roads, with lodges that were built for exactly this: a fireplace, a window and no one else around. Couples usually split their time between El Calafate for the Perito Moreno Glacier and Torres del Paine on the Chilean side. Add El Chaltén if you both like walking.
Mendoza, Argentina
Wine country at the foot of the Andes. Long lunches at the vineyards, a private tasting, a bike ride between bodegas and afternoons doing very little. It is the softest stop on any itinerary and pairs perfectly with a few days of hiking before or after.
Iguazu Falls, Argentina & Brazil
Two hundred and seventy waterfalls surrounded by rainforest, and the option to sleep inside the national park so you have the walkways almost to yourselves at opening time. Two nights is enough, and it fits neatly between Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.
Atacama Desert, Chile & Uyuni Salt Flats, Bolivia
For couples who want landscapes that do not look like anywhere else on earth. Geysers at sunrise, salt flats that mirror the sky, and some of the clearest night skies in the world. Best combined with Santiago or the Chilean Lake District.
Machu Picchu, Peru
If you want your honeymoon to include something you will both talk about for years. Cusco, the Sacred Valley and the citadel itself, with the option of walking in for the last stretch instead of arriving by train.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The easiest way to end a honeymoon. Beach days, a sunset from Sugarloaf and a couple of nights where the only plan is dinner. Works especially well after Patagonia, when you are ready for warm weather.
What Kind of Couples Do Our Honeymoons Suit Best?
For couples who want to be outdoors
For couples who want to be outdoors
You will spend your days walking, kayaking or riding, and your evenings somewhere warm with a view. Patagonia and the Lake District are the obvious base, and we can dial the difficulty up or down depending on how much either of you actually wants to hike.
For couples who want to be looked after
Private guides, the best available rooms, transfers waiting at every airport and someone handling the details so you never have to open a booking app. Our luxury itineraries are built around comfort without turning the trip into a resort holiday.
For couples who love food and wine
Mendoza, Salta and the Buenos Aires food scene, plus tastings and vineyard lunches booked in advance so you are not queuing for a table. A great counterweight to a few days in the mountains.
For couples who want to drive themselves
For couples who want to drive themselves
Some couples want the road to be part of the honeymoon. The Route of the Seven Lakes, the Chilean Lake District and the wine roads around Mendoza are all easy to self-drive, and we plan the route, the stops and the car for you.
For couples with limited time
If you only have ten days, we would rather do two destinations well than four badly. We will tell you honestly what fits and what does not, and where the internal flights will cost you a day.
