Just outside of the bustling capital city, you can find a colorful Chilean beach town called Valparaiso. This hidden gem holds a quiet, bohemian charm, but was once an energetic hub that served as a stopping point for merchants sailing trade routes around the world. Because of its unique history, this ocean-front city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Valparaiso also features ‘La Sebastiana’, the incredible home of Pablo Neruda, Chilean poet and politician, which has been opened to public viewing (ticket not included). Finally, you will end your day with a visit to the neighboring beach-town Viña del Mar, also known as The Garden City, to soak up some sun on a relaxing walk along the coastline.
