November 1-3 mark the dates of one of Argentina’s most elaborate and grand festivals, the Quilmes Buenos Aires Rock Festival. For 10 years, Quilmes has sponsored the festival, elevating the city in a craze.
Quilmes Buenos Aires Rock Festival
The Buenos Aires Rock Festival is held annually at a number of venues, including the Ferro Stadium and River Plate Stadium. Famous local and international artists performed at the event last year, including Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys and MGMT. Presently, confirmed bands for this year’s Buenos Aires Rock Festival include Ciro y Los Persas on November 1, Blur on November 2 and Tan Bionica on November 3. The diverse styles of each band are sure to attract many viewers.
Ciro y Los Persas is presenting its latest album to top off its national tour. Since the release of its album, ¨27¨, it has performed eight times at Luna Park, selling out all of its tickets each time.
Led by Damon Albarn and one of the most influential British bands of the past 20 years, Blur will be presenting the best of its discography, including seven studio albums: Leisure (1991), Modern Life is Rubbish (1993), Parklife (1994), The Great Escape (1995), Blur (1997), 13 (1999) and Think Tank (2003). The band last visited Argentina in 1999 with two memorable performances at Luna Park. This year, it plans to also travel to Peru, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay.

Tan Bionica is a band with local flavor, created by a group of friends with similar interests and distinct talents. It was created back in 2002 and in recent months, welcomed a full audience at Luna Park stadium four times. Tan Bionica consists of Chano Moreno Charpentier (voice), Sebastian Seoane (guitar), Bambi Moreno Charpentier (bass) and Diego Lichtenstein (drums).
Visitors will also be able to participate in a beer festival, taking place in the ¨City of Rock¨, which was once called Parque de la Ciudad in front of Parque Roca, on Av. Roca and Escalada. The ¨City of Rock¨ is a space specially designed for outdoor shows and is easily accessible by public transportation. It also has a parking lot available for 8,000 cars. The beer festival has a capacity of 90,000 people and starts at 5 p.m. each day of the Buenos Aires Rock Festival.
