With springtime fresh in the air in Argentina, October is set to be a great month. From the famous celebration of Oktoberfest in Villa General Belgrano to international events like Buenos Aires Photo and the Buenos Aires International Marathon, visitors and Argentine residents alike will find plenty to do this month.

What: The Argentine equivalent to green tea, yerba mate, is celebrated each year in the heart of Misiones Province, where most of the yerba mate plantations are. The liquid is consumed through a metal pipe, called a bombilla, which sticks out of a gourd filled with the green leaves and hot water. Enjoy folkloric musical events and the crowning of the yerba mate queen while sipping away on your mate.

Where: Apóstoles, Misiones Province
What: Since 1964, the National Beer Festival, which celebrates the traditional German beer festival of Oktoberfest, has attracted thousands of people to the town of Villa General Belgrano, a small settlement originally founded by German immigrants. During the festival’s eleven days a large amount of beer is on tap, including the most popular beer brands as well as locally brewed beers. This festival is considered the third most important Oktoberfest site after Munich, Germany and Blumenau in Brazil.

Where: Villa General Belgrano, Cordoba Province
What: Buenos Aires market is a traveling street fair dedicated to organic products and healthy foods that takes place one weekend per month in Buenos Aires. Free of charge to enter, this market has a similar style of organic markets found in London and New York and features more than 60 booths of participating vendors, collectively offering a wide variety of products. In addition, the market offers free cooking classes for both adults and children that are taught by experts of natural food, free yoga classes, and music and artistic street shows for all to enjoy.

Where: Plaza Unidad Latinoamericana (Medrano Avenue and El Salvador Street)
What: During the 42 kilometers of the annual Buenos Aires International Marathon the participants pass the impressive Obelisco monument, the narrow streets of San Telmo, Avenida Alvear with its many fashion boutiques, lakes, parks and many other main attractions of the Argentine capital. Join the run or cheer for the athletes passing by.

What: At the popular Buenos Aires Photo, photography enthusiasts can browse an ample range of classic and contemporary photos on any theme at the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires. Galleries from all across Latin America and other parts of the world come to show the work of many top photographers each year at this event.

Where: Centro Cultural Recoleta (Junín 1930), Buenos Aires
