Travel Tales of Argentina
Welcome to Argentina’s Wine Country! Luckily for visitors to the home of Malbec, Mendoza has its own small international airport. Governor Francisco Gabrielli International Airport is better known as El Plumerillo International Airport with the airport code of MDZ. The Mendoza airport is located 8 kilometers outside of Mendoza city and covers 1,200 acres of territory.
El Plumerillo is serviced by Aerolineas Argentinas, LAN, and Gol Airlines. The majority of daily flights are between Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile. There are limited weekly flights to and from Salta, Iguazú, Bariloche, and even Sao Paulo. Inside the Mendoza airport, there is one main terminal and parking lot, so you shouldn’t get lost when you are trying to find your way around!
To get from the Mendoza airport to the city center, you have a few options. You can take a private taxi car called a remis, with a fixed price for the 20 minute journey. This will be your safest and most reliable transport option. There is also a public city bus (colectivo) that will take you downtown. It runs every half an hour and takes about an hour to reach downtown.
Flying into Mendoza will give you beautiful views of the Andes Mountain Range so make sure to get a window seat! Enjoy your time in Mendoza!
