Jujuy Weather

Argentina Travel Posted on 06/24/2015

Bordering Bolivia and Chile in the uppermost northwestern province of Argentina, Jujuy weather can be quite fluxuating. To help plan your trip accordingly, it is very useful to take a look at typical Jujuy weather throughout the year.

Jujuy has a warm, temperate climate with dry winters and hot summers. Since the province is arid and semi-desertic, temperatures greatly differ from the day to the night and rainfall is scarce.

Warm weather lasts from October – February, with an average high temperature of 28°C (82°F) and an average low temperature of 17°C (63°F). The hottest weather all year will probably be in December. Cold weather begins in May and ends in August, with high temperatures around 20°C (68°F) and low temperatures around 8°C (46°F). The coldest days will be in July, so pack a warm jacket! The good news is that it does not snow in the area, so temperatures are not unbearably cold.

Bring an umbrella and rainboots if you plan to travel to Jujuy in January, which is when it is most likely to rain. However, the rest of the year has very little precipitation. Most common is drizzle, moderate rainfall, and occasional thunderstorms.

The best time to visit, in respect to Jujuy weather, is during April, June, September, or December, when weather is not extremely hot or cold. In this way you will be able to enjoy all that the beautiful area has to offer while remaining comfortable throughout your stay!
