Express Vacation in Patagonia

Argentina’s Patagonia region is one of the most well-known tourist destinations in the world. With glaciers, snow-capped mountains and unique arctic wildlife, who wouldn’t be interested in seeing Patagonia for themselves? While many choose to spend a week or more here, hiking and exploring the region in depth, it is not necessary to have this much time. Patagonia is a destination that will be great no matter the length of your stay! If you’re looking for a place to take an express vacation, why not consider the beautiful region of Patagonia.

If you’re visiting Patagonia for a limited time, the first thing to be aware of is that you will probably have to stick to one or two destination(s) and enjoy it/them to the fullest. Here are a few suggestions of where you can go and what you can do on an express vacation in Patagonia.

El Calafate & Perito Moreno Glacier

One of the classic images of Patagonia is the glaciers, of which the famous Perito Moreno Glacier is located outside the town of El Calafate. A UNESCO World Heritage site, you can’t go wrong spending a few days hiking the glaciers and taking a boat trip to see them up close and personal.

While the charming town of El Calafate is popular among tourists, its tiny size doesn’t require more than a few hours to see the actual town. On top of this, the main attraction, the Perito Moreno Glacier, is doable in just one full day. There are a number of full-day excursions to the glacier that will allow you to take advantage of your short time and see everything you want. This means that if you’re on a quick trip to Patagonia and are interested in making more than 1 stop, you can spend 1-2 days in Calafate and still have time to hit another destination!

Bariloche, located in the northern part of Patagonia, is known for its beautiful lakes and mountains. With skiing in the winter and hiking and kayaking in the summer, Bariloche is a great destination all year around and perfectly accessible for an express vacation to Patagonia. Like Calafate, the actual town of Bariloche doesn’t require a whole lot of time. Spending a few days here will allow you to see the highlights of the European-inspired town, taste the famous chocolate produced in Bariloche and still enjoy the gorgeous natural attractions that surround the town.

Depending on your interests, there are many things to do in a day or two in Bariloche. If you’re up for a bit of hiking, you have many options for day trips, such as the popular Circuito Chico tour. This route takes around a half day to complete, covering 41 miles in total, and is full of absolutely stunning panoramas, including the famous Cerro Campanario. This viewpoint, known as the center of panorama, is one of the most generous in Patagonia, giving you a view of Bariloche in all its glory.

Although remotely located, the world’s southern-most city of Ushuaia is another great destination for an express vacation in Patagonia. Located at the bottom of the Patagonia region, just a 3 hour flight from Buenos Aires, will have you exploring this interesting place and its unique setting. Surrounded by Tierra del Fuego National Park and bordering the famous Beagle Channel, Ushuaia offers visitors many interesting excursions that don’t require a large amount of time to complete.

By far the most popular attraction in Ushuaia, a Beagle Channel cruise takes guests down the historic channel, showing them not only the beautiful land of southern Patagonia, but also the unique arctic animals that inhabit the area. Visitors can choose how long they want to cruise (and how much they want to see), but all of these cruises can be completed in less than a day, leaving plenty of time to canoe or hike in the nearby national park.

All of Patagonia’s interesting parts have a lot to offer, which make it ideal for an express vacation. An express vacation in Patagonia allows you to pick one or two of your favorite places and see their main attractions. Some of the most interesting sights of Patagonia only require one full day to explore, and will leave you with wonderful memories. Say Hueque has a wide array of trips to Patagonia, all of which can be modified to your personal needs. Make sure to take a look when planning your express vacation to Patagonia.
