How to go from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro
By landway
The cheapest way to get from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro is most likely by bus. A ticket there will run you around USD 200. Buses leave from Retiro Station, Buenos Aires to Novo Rio Station, Rio de Janeiro. However, take in mind while planning your trip, that the bus drive is going to take you two days. The buses are very comfortable; in most cases you can have a seat that reclines into a bed for the overnight portions. Meals will be served, including wine, and movies are played throughout the trip to make the time go by. It is not a bad way to travel, but certainly one of the most time consuming.
By plane
Another option to travel from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro is by plane. Each day there are usually around 8 or 9 trips leaving from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro. These short three to three and a half hour flights can be booked through the airlines LATAM, Gol, Emirates and probably the most popular, Aerolineas Argentinas. This will run you a few hundreds dollars, and cheaper flights can be found in advance. You will most likely be landing at the Galeão – Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport, which is located only 20 kilometers from downtown Rio.
After clearing immigrations (US Citizens have to pay a tax when entering the country), be prepared to step into one of the most famous and visited cities in the world.
What to visit in Rio de Janeiro

Rio’s mountain just straight up out of the ground to stand 1300 feet in the air. Its view of the city and the Atlantic Ocean is beyond remarkable and every tourist to come through the city has to take the all glass cable cars up to the top to see it for themselves.
Another highlight that you can´t miss is the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro, a festival held every year and considered the biggest carnival in the world. The parade is filled with revelers, floats and adornments from different samba schools that are located in Rio. The Carnival usually takes place in February, so make sure to check the exact dates to get tickets in advance, as it is an International event.
