Beyond Hiking – Alternative Torres del Paine Day Tours

Most people who come to Torres del Paine are planning on doing one thing: hiking the W Circuit. While this is undoubtedly the main attraction in this Patagonia national park, there are plenty of other things to do while you’re there. If you’ve got a few extra days in the park, be sure to check out these alternative Torres del Paine day tours and continue exploring the rugged beauty of the Chilean Patagonia.

Cycling & other Torres del Paine day tours

There are a variety of different biking trails throughout the park, so if you love to cycle, get ready for an amazing ride! By bike, you can see some of the more remote parts of the park that hikers rarely explore. There are cycling routhes that make for great Torres del Paine day tours, but you can also choose a longer route to visit more of the park. Come prepared to peddle hard, and watch out for those big gusts of wind! You’ll be rewarded with unbelievable views of the mountains and remote lakes and glaciers of Torres del Paine.

Adventure-filled kayaking Torres del Paine day tours

Kayaking and Boat Rides

Many Torres del Paine Tours include a boat ride to Grey Glacier. This is one of the best Torres del Paine day tours if you’re exhausted from all the hiking you’ve been doing but you still want to get out and see the sights. Enjoy the impressive mountain scenery as you cross Grey Lake, and then spend an hour navigating around the glacier itself. Or if you’re up for something a little more active, try navigating the icy waters around the one of the park’s glaciers by kayak.

Spot condors on a Torres del Paine Wildlife Safari

Wildlife Safari

As we stated earlier, most visitors come to Torres del Paine for the W circuit and its incomparable views of the Paine massif. However, in addition to its incredible landscapes of mountains, glaciers, and lakes, the park is also home to some pretty impressive wildlife. There are a number of Torres del Paine day tours that focus specifically on spotting wildlife – from guanacos (relatives of the llama) to condors to pumas! If wildlife is your thing, it’s definitely worth spending an extra day or two in the park with an experienced guide to show you the animals in their natural habitat.
